Education
There are over 25 Co-op Academies in the UK, covering Greater Manchester, Staffordshire & Merseyside and West Yorkshire – each region has its own Chief Education Officer.
The Co-op Academies Trust is responsible for the academies and acts as a sponsor. It also offers access to business expertise and many learning opportunities for children and young people underpinned by Co-op values. The Co-operative Group, one of the world’s largest consumer co-ops, is the Trust sponsor.
Co-op Academies Trust is a group of 30 schools mainly in the North of England.. These 30 schools include primary, secondary and special schools, all of which instill their values of Do What Matters Most, Show You Care, Succeed Together, and Be Yourself Always. These values are a key part to all Co-op Academies in creating socially conscious, community focused individuals. Co-op Academies Trust believes that by teaching their students to care about their communities, the future of the UK will be a brighter place.
The Co-op Academies Trust continues to grow and aims to have 40 schools within the next 3 years; the schools within the Trust are diverse, some are in particularly challenging areas of the UK and, working together with their sponsor The Co-operative Group, Co-op Academies Trust is dedicated to playing their part in the “levelling-up” agenda. An example of this would be their Academy-wide Virtual Work Experience Programme in which all students in Year 9 complete a comprehensive programme of work experience and sessions with leading UK employers, offering real insights into the businesses that shape the UK, ones that their students would not typically be able to gain access to on their own.
The Trust is not only committed to creating opportunities for the young people within their academies, but they also have a leading approach to teacher training, offering places each year to train within the Trust with leading benefits for trainees, as well as a clear focus on apprenticeships.
Their belief is that the Trust has a single legal and moral purpose; to advance education for public benefit. Through collaboration and co-operation, the Trust works to improve and maintain educational standards, enabling a broad set of outcomes for pupils and communities.
